Firm's niche service
SMALL and medium-sized street furniture and equipment manufacturers can often solve problems for local councils that some of their bigger brethren do not find economic - that's the claim made by David Jones, director of Century and Leisure.
The Kent-based firm also employs its own installation teams, who double as the service and inspection resource.
Bespoke street items for smaller councils can impose price penalties when ordering from the "glossy catalogue brigade" says Mr Jones. Century has carved a niche in the market by being adaptable and providing town, parish and community councils with access to a manufacturer heavy on in-house engineering skills and with a tried and tested product range.
Skate parks across the country attest to the company's design, build and installation programme, and benches, fencing, gates, cycle stands, safety guard railing, bollards and litter bins are all on offer.
